DO NOTHING
It might seem like strange advice for a productivity/efficiency ‘mini series’ but, really, once in a while try to do nothing.
A great time to do nothing is your commute. This might seem like the ideal time to clear e-mails or to make calls — or perhaps even to listen to podcasts — but at least a few days a week try to use your commute as a time to practice stillness. It doesn’t have to be meditation or mindfulness as such. Just allow yourself to be, to exist unentertained.
Slowing down can be more productive over the long run than speeding up.
One caveat: if you can’t tear yourself away from podcasts then remember that your podcasts don’t always have to be work or education focussed. Whatever your aural preference, your commute could be a great chance to just relax and enjoy some respite.
Find some time to ‘do nothing’.
